Biography

Professor K. D. Manori Sujeewani Kaluthantiri Weeratunga is a leading Sri Lankan demographer and a Professor at the University of Colombo. She specializes in population ageing, migration, fertility, and gender studies. She holds a PhD in Demography from the University of Adelaide, Australia, where she received the University Award for Doctoral Thesis Excellence.

Professor Manori has served as Head of the Department of Demography and is currently the Director of Centre for Ageing Studies at the University of Colombo. She is also a visiting Professor at Western Sydney University, Australia. Throughout her career, she has led and contributed to numerous national and international research projects for organizations such as UNFPA, Help Age International, and the WHO.

An accomplished researcher, she has published widely in international journals and presented at major conferences worldwide. She is an active member and Vice President of the Population Association of Sri Lanka and a life member of the Asian Population Association and IUSSP. Her work continues to shape population and ageing policies in Sri Lanka and the region.
